WHERE WERE YOU TEN YEARS AGO? We were four years old, working from a small, one-roomed office in Cape Town, but producing big budget commercials on a scale which one can only dream of today!
HOW HAVE THINGS CHANGED IN THE LAST DECADE? Email wasn’t that prevalent. There was a lot of faxing and mailing the old slow boat style. You weren’t uploading locations and casting to the web like we do now, so you needed a lot more time.You would paste up the locations in a book, make two copies, mail one and wait for weeks for your clients to receive it. Not to mention the posting of large umatic tapes of castings to all corners of the globe!
BIGGEST LEARNING CURVE? HD. It’s not as simple as people think, so we have been concentrating a lot on being at the forefront as formats change.
BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT? Huge leaps in technology.
HIGHLIGHT? Producing Warren Kushner’s SEAT commercial with John McEnroe, which won at Eurobest. And all the great people, the toys and the trips to places like the Seychelles, Namibia, Tahiti, Zanzibar and Mali.
TEN YEAR GOAL? To continue to grow every year, but keep that boutique, family feel.
